Driving at Green Lane

I had so much fun at Green Lane that I turned right around and went back the next weekend. In all seriousness, I've been wanting to drive Booger at Green Lane since Dodie put the thought in my head last fall. Two Saturdays ago, we made it happen.

Mike joined me on his bicycle. I warned him that Booger goes much faster in the cart than she does when I'm riding her. It was going to be hot. He wanted to try to keep up with us anyway. (I completely failed to get any pictures of Mike. Bad wife.)

Terra and I spotted this gazebo from the causeway while doing the NACMO ride. I had commented that I'd never been to the gazebo, and wondered out loud where it was in the park. Mystery solved.

Green Lane: Camping and NACMO

The Father's Day NACMO at Green Lane was two weekends ago. This year, I decided to book two nights of camping for extra saddle time. Of course, it turned out to be the hottest week of the year so far, with a real feel well over 100℉. It wound up being a great weekend despite the heat.

Pulling Plates at Green Lane

The day after my Stephens adventure with Sandy, I met Dodie and Jen at Green Lane to pull pie plates from the NACMO ride back in June. It was Lucy's turn, and she happily volunteered herself when I pulled in with the trailer.

Father's Day NACMO

The weekend before Father's Day, Dodie hosted a NACMO ride at Green Lane. Of course, I was in! This NACMO ride also featured camping, which I was extra excited about. It turned out to be a stellar weekend. Highlights included dunking the ponies in the reservoir, riding bareback at night with fireflies lighting the way, and doing the long course with friends.

Truly my happy place. Lucy was also very content, and was giving a series of happy grunts.

Green Lane with Christine

Three weeks ago, Christine and I met up at Green Lane for a ride. I really enjoyed riding there last year with Dodie and looked forward to going back with Booger. There is a NACMO ride coming up at Green Lane, so I'd like to get to know the trails a bit. Christine and I live about three hours apart, so this was a good halfway point. Christine had never been to Green Lane and was looking forward to seeing some new trail. Gracelyn tends to be a good influence on spicy Arabians, and I was looking to do some slow miles. Gracelyn hadn't been out in a few months so this was a plan that suited everybody. It wound up being an awesome day.

I have been ordering Willit breeches from Amazon and I freaking love them. They're like thirty bucks and are sturdier than the Kerrits tights I've been wearing. Plus they come in all kinds of fun colors!

Green Lane with Dodie

I have been seeing Dodie post about riding at Green Lane for a long time. This park was on my to-ride list for this year. In fact, Mike and I even took the bikes out there earlier this year to scope out the drive and parking situation. That day we cycled the Perkiomen Trail, which is mostly flat. I knew the trails in the park were more technical than that, but I still wanted to give them a try. Green Lane is about an hour and a half away, so it would require a little bit of planning. Still, I was delighted when Dodie reached out and offered to show us around. Any ride I don't have to plan is a plus!

We agreed to meet on Sunday morning at ten. At first, I wanted to meet a little later than that, but the forecast was hot and sticky and I didn't want to torment the horses too much. Booger was in her rest week before the endurance ride, which meant Lucy got volunteered. She has not been doing as many long rides, though she still gets worked plenty. Eryca and Lilly were available to join us, and Dodie agreed to go as slow as needed.

In the end, we did a little over twelve miles. It was probably the most technical ride either Lucy or Lilly had ever done.
