I see pit/lab. He has a very soft mouth, big paws, a lab tail, and a love of water like I've never seen. He's bigger than the typical pits I meet and Mike and Bryce both see Rott in him (I wasn't convinced, but the jowls do make sense). Who knows? He's a Trenton Terrier!
What a nice pair they are! Any chance you have two dogs now?!
Agree with lab/pit mix. He looks a lot like my Sweetpea did... when asked about her breeding, we used to call her a Gulf Stream Retriever - to avoid getting the "pit bull" look. ;D
Love all of your photos of these two together. I don't see any Rottie at all in Julio, just pure Staffie. Several of the techs and doctors at work have pitts, and a couple have Staffordshires, with the huge, wide heads and super stocky muscular bodies. The photo of Julio in profile reminds me of the purebred Staffie owned by one of my coworkers; he has a more refined muzzle than the typical Staffordshire. I'm voting Staffie/Lab mix. :)
Or...maybe purebred Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier? A couple of these guys look just like Julio! http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/irishstaffordshirebullterrier.htm
Pits are supposed to be 50-60lb. He is 70+. Like I said, I suspect he's part lab. I don't see Rott in him either, but the guys swear they do. I'd put money on pit/lab. We'll never know though. Not that any of it matters (and the idea of a 'purebred' staffy/pit makes me smile).
Is that a tick?
ReplyDeleteHe certainly has quite a few different breed looks to him in different photos. The last two look like he has some Boxer in him.
He has a total lab head/muzzle. I think he might be part Rott. I do NOT see boxer in him at all, but I agree the photos look that way :)
DeleteAnd it's a cicada shell.
Funny. I see some boxer-Pitt mix in him, but that may be because Boxers are the breed I'm most familiar with. Don't see Rott at all.

As I've said... I'm not saying anything officially til we sign the lease on our new place (no spoilers) but that's the plan.
DeleteLove Dog Spam!
