Back when I was still on crutches, Mike and I went to Bluestone to pick up some hay. The standardbred industry in NJ has been on the rocks for the last several years, and breeding is probably taking the biggest hit. The days of pastures full of foals and barns full of yearlings seem to be largely behind us. Still, Bluestone had a few babies on the ground and I took the time to walk around and snap some photos as best I could. It was a trip down memory lane for me. The job wasn't a career and it definitely didn't pay enough to make my ends meet, but I have some very fond memories from my days working in the breeding industry. And there's nothing like seeing babies I raised all grown up to make me feel old.

Mike posing with Baby I'm Bad News and two foals. The mare is one that I delivered, raised, and prepped as a yearling. I can't believe she's having foals of her own. |

Bar Slide, Hambletonian Oaks winner, and her foal. |

Joy, another mare I worked with as a yearling. She was one of the original horses when I started at Bluestone. |

And good old Boo Boo is still going strong <3 |
The black and white photo is GORGEOUS.
