One Year

It's me and Mike's one year anniversary (which is kind of silly since we've been unofficially together since May of 2011).

We started the day off right because it rained and he got to go into work late, meaning we got to snuggle for a few extra hours before getting out of bed.

He went to work and I went on with my day, riding Aurorapedia before heading back to the barn to work with Jazz. Mike called as I was getting ready to hop on the mare and I had no idea anything was up until I saw his rental car pull up the driveway as I rode away from the ring.

Sneaky boy hadn't been at work after all. Instead, he got me flowers (I didn't even know roses came in lavender) and chocolate covered strawberries. He took pictures of me riding the mare and went out to snuggle Ozzy and JR for a while.

Some time later we were driving through the Amwell Valley when something caught my eye on the shoulder.

"Is that... a loose cow??" I did a double take.

Of course it was. We pulled over at the house by the cow pasture and told Herbie to stay put while we grabbed lead ropes from my trunk. The owners of the cow had come out to see why we were in their driveway, but didn't actually seem at all concerned about the welfare of the cow. Their advice was, "Just chase her down the lane."

So Mike and I walked down the street, ushered the cow away from traffic, and followed her up the neighbor's lane. She knew exactly where to go and hopped quietly over the fallen fence in the tree line then sneaked through a gap by the silo to get back with the rest of her herd. I think she's done this a few times. The owners were grateful and completely baffled at how she could have gotten through their awesome fencing. *sigh* You're welcome...

We went home, watched TV, split a beer, then went out for sushi and ice cream.

Snuggles, horses, random animal adventures, sushi, ice cream, and beer. Yeah, I'd say that sums up all the things I love about this relationship. Hehe.
